We talked about the importance of followership if you want to create an innovative organization. The leader can come up with some innovations, but assuming your organization is more than just you, if you don't embrace (at least figuratively, not necessarily literally as it is here) the ideas of your subordinates, you will lose out on all of their ideas. Assuming your organization is at least you and one subordinate, by embracing your subordinate's ideas, you double the number of ideas and insights that your organization can generate. That's pretty powerful.
