day 6: obsession


This morning I weighed in at 176.3 pounds. I've lost 20 pounds since January 2nd. Above is a screen shot of the app I use to track my progress - LoseIt.com

I obsess about food all the time now. I look at my LoseIt app almost as much as I do my e-mail. Actively engaging in a weight loss program requires constant vigilance. It's so easy to give up. The constant vigilance comes at a price. It's a bit like having an app running in your head all the time. It takes up a portion of the RAM you would normally be using for something else. It slows down your processing of other projects because you don't have as much mental capacity because a portion of your processing power is always engaged.

But that said, I'm also obsessing about how low I can reasonably go. I started toying with trying to drop 10 more pounds - get down to 166 - about the weight I was when I was first commissioned.
