After Dark
It seems as though night provides the best time for my personal reflection, contemplation, and introspection. Today’s prompt of “After Dark” really resonated with my natural “curiosita” regarding space, the stars, and planets. A few years ago I began watching a series of documentaries narrated by Professor Brian Cox, a physicist teaching at the University of Manchester and research fellow at CERN in Geneva. Wonders of the Solar System and Wonders of the Universe both explore the awe inspiring depths of the billions of galaxies, stars, and planets in our universe. Gazing at the stars at night reminds me of the miracle of life, the amazing marvels of our planet, and the astounding beauty of space. Unfortunately, the visibility was poor tonight, but I was still able to see a couple of stars.
Below are a few clips from the series as well as a video of Earth shot from the International Space Station at night. I hope that you are also inspired by these videos, I would definitely recommend watching the series!
