I used to play an rpg like this one as a kid. Back then (1990 maybe) I could explore an ascii world for hours and hours. Now it it looks like a pattern of letters and some nostalgia, but maybe I should give it a try again... This one is called Brogue, and is many hundreds of hours long. I'm sure someone somewhere has done the whole thing.
